Template:Tag
This template is used to tag pages with informative tags when certain criteria are met.
What it does
This template creates a tag, which is a standard way of notifying visitors that a page, article or section meets certain criteria.
Usage
To apply a tag, use:
{{Tag|type}}
The (anonymous) type argument must take one of the following values:

Optional arguments
part
If the tag type is a content, style or tone type, then you can use the optional named argument part to specify part of an article (usually a section):
{{Tag|type|part=section}}
date
You can add the date when a tag is applied. For example:
{{Tag|type|date=2026-04}}
Consider whether the date is actually relevant; a tag should describe the condition of an article, and should be removed when that condition changes, not after some time limit expires. Some tags OTOP should always be dated; the featured tag should carry the date when the featured article status was conferred, for example.
user
You may also add your username. This can be useful if you are soliciting input, as it provides a link to your User page. For example:
{{Tag|type|user=Mollie}}
You would not normally add a username to a tag if it is on a page in your user space, eg a sandbox or todo list.
Combining arguments
Of course, you may combine any, all or none of the above arguments. Only the type is required.
